Dr Hendrik and Nehlsie DeBruto
Our ministry has changed dramatically during lockdown time. In this we also realize that our God knows all. He prepared us for this new kind of ministry when we moved to Nelspruit.
Both Hendrik and myself started whatsapp disciple groups and during lock down we just carried on with our ministry. People also phone us for guidance and counselling more than ever. We have thus also learned to do counselling effectively on the phone.
Both of us used the lockdown time to work on publications we have been busy with before. Out of the Exchange life teaching a ministry developed for women–specifically about being a helper. From that came a need for a prayer dairy for the helper. During the lockdown I had time to make the drawings for the diary and edit it. I have now also developed a general diary for women. Those have been printed.
I also had time to at last finish the Afrikaans version of Canaan Life; Life in Christ. I have been working on that book for many years. Now I had the time to complete the book. At the moment my daughter is editing it for me and Piet du Toit is evaluating the book. It is built upon Joshua 12 where the possession of the cities is mentioned.
The Holy Spirit has given me insight into the reality that after we have been to the Cross—through the Jordan, we fail to possess our land. Our Promised Land is Jesus Christ— His character in us. We must take possession of it. It is about renewing our minds and taking down strongholds. My daughter read it in its beginning stage and encouraged me to develop it further…to have a study book with it where I explain more about the Exchanged Life. I am now busy with the Study guide. The English version is still in its beginning format. When I have finished with the Study guide I will begin with the English version.
Hendrik is working on his book as well. Trying to simplify it and he is also adding some relevant information.
So although we were very quiet we are still very busy in the vineyard. Now that we can meet again we are planning a small conference with less than 10 people.
Thank you for the support we receive from GFI and you special people .
Love in Christ

An update about ministry activities
Since the Covid-19 outbreak in South Africa in March 2020, we had to cancel all our seminars for the rest of 2020. We are in the risk age group (69) that need to take extra precautions to avoid the exposure to big groups of people.
We are busy with the following:
- One on one counselling sessions for depression, unemployment, coaching young men, marriage and family counselling, etc.
- Home visits – call outs to terminal sick people requiring death support and certainty of faith.
- Giving support to the lonely elderly living around us.
- As grandparents helping out to look after grandchildren.
- Sending short WhatsApp voice and video messages on the message of the Cross.
- Small Intersession prayer group meetings, early on Thursday mornings.
We trust our Heavenly Father to continue His work through us, He is always faithful and trustworthy.
2 Cor. 4:16-18:” So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”
Be encouraged in the Lord!
